The Luzhou Laojiao · Guojiao 1573 WCGC Global Chinese Elite Golf Challenge

The Luzhou Laojiao · Guojiao 1573 WCGC Global Chinese Elite Golf Challenge – Washington Division, hosted by the United States-China Association Of Commerce and co-hosted by the Wufu Alliance Golf Club, took place on August 18 and 19. The event attracted golf enthusiasts from across the United States and Canada who gathered in the U.S. capital to enjoy two days of intense and exciting competition, making friends through golf.

WCGC (World Corporate Golf Challenge), founded in 1993 by the British Times newspaper and co-hosted by Fortune magazine and Time magazine in the U.S., is one of the world’s most prestigious, authoritative, influential, and well-known elite corporate golf tournaments. Since 2017, Luzhou Laojiao · Guojiao 1573 has partnered with the WCGC China competition to create the "Guojiao 1573 WCGC China Tournament." The series holds global events to promote competitive golf and cultural exchange among Chinese communities worldwide, offering a fragrant golf experience centered on the concept of “Small White Ball, Big World,” bringing players a healthy, stylish, exciting, and immersive event.

In 2024, the WCGC Global Chinese Elite Golf Challenge chose Washington, D.C. as its venue. Eighteen teams from across the U.S. and Canada participated, including: U.S.-China Chamber of Commerce Team 1, U.S.-China Chamber of Commerce Eastern Jazz Team, Teams 3 and 4 of the Chamber, U.S.-China Economic and Cultural Exchange Team, Wufu Flying Eagles, Wufu Flying Tigers, Wufu Flying Dragons, NoVa8 Guojiao Team, WCGC Team, Canada Yaoqi Team, Washington Free Union Team, Washington Warriors, New Jersey Princeton Team 1, Boston Teams 1 and 2, Dallas Chinese Golf Team from Texas, and the Pennsylvania-Indiana United Team — totaling 144 players. Over the two-day event, participants showcased excellent golfing skills and strong fighting spirit, delivering a spectacular golf feast. Each player’s effort and dedication not only made the competition thrilling but also added deeper meaning to the tournament.

For over 30 years, the U.S.-China Chamber of Commerce has been committed to promoting economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between the U.S. and China, witnessing China’s economic rise and the ups and downs of Sino-American relations. The Chamber highly praised Luzhou Laojiao for its contributions to spreading Chinese culture overseas and uniting overseas Chinese communities, continuously building this unique platform that perfectly combines golf and baijiu. Through this fair, high-standard, and immersive platform, the world witnesses the cohesion of overseas Chinese and the spirit of this generation of Chinese Americans.

At the awards banquet on the evening of August 19, the winners of various prizes were announced amid an enthusiastic and lively atmosphere. Awards included team awards, individual gross score awards, individual net score awards, and the Guojiao MVP award.

This tournament not only provided a stage for participants to showcase themselves but also further strengthened connections and friendships within the Chinese community, becoming a major sports and cultural exchange event in the Washington, D.C. area.
