
Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of China's National Day and the 45th Anniversary of China-U.S. Diplomatic Relations

On the evening of September 22, 2024, a grand banquet was held in the Greater Washington, D.C. area to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and 45th anniversary year of the establishment of China-U.S. diplomatic relations.
The banquet was co-hosted by Chris Max, a well-known local host in the Washington, D.C. area, and Jennifer Wan, a young representative from the local community. As the guests arrived, 62 talented young musicians from American Chinese School performed a grand and stirring welcome set. Accompanied by these touching and recognizable melodies, guests entered the venue in an orderly manner, signed in, and added their names to the event’s signature wall and took photos as well.

Hosts: Chris Max and Jennifer Wan

At 6:30 PM, the banquet officially began. As the solemn melodies of the national anthems of China and the United States filled the room, guests stood in respectful silence, marking the moment with a sense of ceremony and warmth.
The evening commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Li Qili, President of the USCAC. He expressed his hope for continued deepening of friendly cooperation between China and the United States, emphasizing that the healthy development of U.S.-China relations is vital to the well-being of both peoples.He concluded with heartfelt wishes for ever-deepening relations and enduring friendship between China and the United States.
Chinese Ambassador to the United States, Mr. Xie Feng, delivered a heartfelt message via video to extend his sincere congratulations to the event. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between China and the United States and expressed his optimism for the future of bilateral relations.
Ambassador Xie congratulated the People’s Republic of China on its remarkable achievements over the past 75 years, and recognized the significant progress made in U.S.-China relations over the past 45 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties—progress in which the overseas Chinese community has played an indispensable role.

Subsequently, several distinguished guests took the stage to deliver speeches, including Minister Counselor Qiu Wenxing from the Chinese Embassy in the United States, Maryland Secretary of State Susan Lee, U.S. Congressman Glenn Ivey, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, and Chinese boxing champion Zhang Zhilei. They all expressed their optimism about the prospects for further enhancing exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in the future.



Mr. Wang Mengchen, President of the American Chinese Economic and Cultural Exchange Association, took the stage to express his gratitude to the community leaders for their strong support of the event. Mr. Wang then invited leaders from these organizations to join him on stage to propose a toast and take a group photo.




Additionally, the banquet featured wonderful performances by several renowned artists from the arts community. The Washington Chinese Traditional Orchestra performed classic Chinese folk pieces, including Jasmine Flower and Tea-Picking Lantern Dance. Soprano singers Guan Beibei and Ma Danni captivated the audience with their renditions of My Deep Affection Waits for You and the song Redwood Tree, which symbolizes the friendship between China and the United States, elevating the atmosphere to a thrilling climax.

At the conclusion of the event, Mr. Liu Sheng, Chairman of Hope Chinese School, took the stage to deliver the closing remarksHe expressed sincere gratitude to all the guests in attendance and to the various community organizations in the Washington, D.C. area for their enthusiastic participation.He also extended special thanks to the media friends covering the event both onsite and remotely, the photographers, and the dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the evening. Mr. Liu concluded by wishing for lasting friendship between the peoples of China and the United States.
